Sign up for Android DevCamp 2012 Singapore @ Blk71

Registration is closed. We have hit our max. number of participants. =) Do register earlier next time.



Android hackers and developers: Do join us at Android DevCamp 2012 Singapore (http://android-devcamp-sg.blogspot.com/), a 48 hour hackathon where you not only can develop a great Android app with your team, but also win some prizes along the way at the same time! The DevCamp (http://android-dev-camp-2012.blogspot.com/) will run worldwide (not just in Singapore), and other cities in the region will also be involved (Singapore, Manila, Jakarta, Bangkok) as well!

Test devices will also be on loan, including the latest ICS devices!!

Rules (updated: 10 Feb 2012):
You can sign up as an individual or teams of no more than 3 people.

Programme (tentative):
17th Feb (Friday)
6:30 pm - 7 pm: Registration
7 - 7:30 pm : Android IAP using MoVend
7:30 - 8pm: Designing Android app on Multiple Screen
8 - 9pm: Google Hangout
9 - 10pm: Briefing, own team discussion, planning, and forming of teams (if no team yet)

18th Feb (Saturday) (Breakfast, lunch dinner provided)
8am - 10pm: Development Time!

19th Feb (Sunday) (breakfast, lunch provided)
8am - 2pm: Development Time!
2 - 2:30pm: Prep for Presentation
2:30 - 5pm: Presentations
5:30pm: Prize giving!
6pm: HSH

There is no commitment for you to sleep in overnight - you can always come back the next day. Food and refreshments will be provided, as well as swags from Google =)

Warmup hands-on Meetup for Global Android Devcamp on Feb 11 2012

In preparation for the Global Android DevCamp scheduled for 17-19 February, SG-GTUG will be organizing tutorial sessions on 11 February. If you intend to participate in the Android DevCamp, we suggest that you start forming your hackathon team together now. The warmup hands-on session will happen as per following schedule.

Time: Saturday 11 February 2012, 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

  • 1:00PM - 3:00PM Tutorial on Google Android (Bharathi)
  • 3:00PM - 4:00PM Google App Engine examples (Louis, Mani)


About the speakers

* Bharathi Subramanian is working as a Principal Consultant in Embinux Division of International SQLStar. He has nearly 11 years of experience in the embedded domain. Currently, he manages the Embedded Linux, Android Porting and Android Training projects. During this talk he will cover the following topics (1hr for first 3 points, and 1hr for the last point):
  1. SDK Setup
  2. Emulator Usage
  3. Example 1: Hello World
  4. Example 2: UI and Layout Example
Because there may be only limited internet access, pre-request is that you need to have downloaded the Android SDK.

* Louis Shue is a co-founder of SG-GTUG and dabbles in Google App Engine in his spare time.


* Mani has worked for over 5 years in the IT industry in India, in the roles as Business Analyst, Product Manager, etc. He quit his career in mid 2010 to start working on his own project, that allowed him to be a self taught web applications developer and a Google App Engine expert. He has already built a Content Management System for Maastricht University, his first client and is currently working on his own online test preparation software, which he expects to complete in mid 2012. 
During this session, we will going over the following:
  1. Steps to set up an App Engine development environment and the codes of a sample Guest Book application from code lab. (Louis)
  2. The design architecture and demo of a web application using Android and App Engine. (Mani)
